June stood in front of the bathroom mirror and glared at her girlish body in utter disgust. She was tired of worrying about gaining weight. She hated trying to perfect her makeup and style her hair every single day. She hated the pink blouse she had chosen to wear to the mall this evening. It didn’t feel like her. Even the purple nail polish on the tips of her fingers felt wrong. She thought it would look nice with the outfit and make her the girl she’s supposed to be, but now it was hard to look at without cringing.

He had never felt so terrified in his entire life. He was defenseless and cold. The power inside his chest wept and begged to be released from its chains, so that it may tear apart his attackers. He barely maintained control as they stood over his cowering body. The rain had soaked through his clothes to his very bone. His teeth chattered and he shook uncontrollably. One of the men reached out to grasp his arm, but he jumped out of his reach. They laughed at his feebleness. This was not the monster they had been sent to hunt down, just some kid scared out of his wits.
